Holiday Concert - 12/02/2007

On Sunday, December 16, 2007 the Orthodox Church of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia cordially invites you to participate in a rare moment. Our holiday concert this year will feature The "Yevshan Ukrainian Chorale Ensemble" of Hartford which will be performing a selection of Ukrainian Liturgical music and a collection of Folk and Christmas songs - many of which are shared and familiar to the Ukrainian, Polish and Russian cultures.

Fall Festival and Russian Bazaar - 08/24/2007

As the seasons change, so do the events in the greater Norwich area. On Saturday, October 6, 2007 the Orthodox Church of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia will hold its 10th Annual Fall Festival and Russian Bazaar. This is a very special celebration for us and proves to be bigger and more beautiful than ever.

Hours & Divine Liturgy beginning at 9:20 a.m.
Molieben for the founding of the parish.
Church School Salad Bar brunch to follow.

April 2 – Great and Holy Monday – Matins at 7 p.m.

April 3 – Great and Holy Tuesday – Matins at 7 p.m.

April 4 – Great and Holy Wednesday – Matins at 7 p.m.

April 5 – Great and Holy Thursday – Matins with 12 Passion Gospels at 7 p.m.

April 6 – Great and Holy Friday – Royal Hours – 9 a.m.
Vespers of the Entombment of Christ – 3 p.m.
Matins of the Lamentations at the Tomb – 7 p.m.

April 7 – Great and Holy Saturday – Vesperal Liturgy of St. Basil ---- Beginning at 9 a.m.

April 8 – GREAT AND HOLY PASCHA – The Resurrection of Our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ – Nocturns at 11 p.m.

St. Petersburg Men's Ensemble to Perform - 11/17/2006

On Sunday, December 3, 2006 at 4pm, the "St. Petersburg Men's Ensemble" will perform at the Orthodox Church of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia. The program will feature Russian Orthodox Choral Music and Folk Songs. The $10 donation will benefit the Church Beautification Fund. October 7, 2006: Annual Fall Festival - 08/28/2006

The Orthodox Church of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia, 364 Canterbury Turnpike in Norwich, will hold its annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 7, 2006, from 9 a.m. through 4 p.m.. The festival will feature: Russian food (take out available), baked goods, silent auction, farmers market / country store, Pisanki egg demonstrations and display, entertainment, cup and chaucer books, story telling, gift basket raffle, Russian imports, children's activities, and flea market. There is also plenty of free parking.

August 5, 2006: Opening of Holy New Martyrs Bookstore - 07/09/2006

Holy New Martyrs Bookstore opens to the public on August 5, 2006. The bookstore offers a range of hand crafted imports from Russia, Greece and Ukraine. There are religious books pertaining to the Orthodox faith, baptismal crosses and chains, ikons and other religious items. The bookstore will be open the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and also each Sunday from noon (following Divine Services) until 2 p.m. or by appointment.

The Sisterhood of Saints Elizabeth and Barbara of Holy New Martyrs Orthodox Church, 364 Canterbury Turnpike in Norwich, will hold its monthly Pierogi and Bake Sale on Saturday, August 5, 2006 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

August 13, 2006: Annual Summer Slavic Dinner - 07/09/2006

The Orthodox Church of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia, 364 Canterbury Turnpike in Norwich, will hold its annual Summer Slavic Dinner on Sunday, August 13, 2006. We will serve dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dine in the air conditioned comfort of our lovely and spacious hall. No need to worry about the weather outside!

The dinner will include a lighter but traditional Slavic, summer fare; cold "pink" borscht, stuffed cabbage, mashed potato, kielbasa and black bread, green beans salad, fresh dill pickles, chocolate brownie and ice cream, and your choice of beverages. The donation for adults is $10.00, children is $5.00.

Also, during the dinner the public is invited to visit Holy New Martyrs Bookstore or take a chance on our lovely gift basket raffle.

Concert Of Religious Music To Be Held - 01/20/2006

Due to threatening weather conditions the Concert has been cancelled. - 2/11/06

The Orthodox Church of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia announces a concert of religious music to be held on Sunday, February 12, 2006. We are proud to announce that the "Holy Myrrhbearers Women's Choir" under the direction of Mrs, Eugenia Temidis will perform. The choir comes to us from Nyack, New York, where it originally formed, but is made up of women from the Hudson Valley region and New Jersey.

Blessing of Graves

The annual blessing of the graves, which traditionally takes place after Pascha, will happen Saturday April 28th at 2:00 pm.  We will meet at St. Nicholas Cemetery.  Join us as we bring the news of the Resurrection to our departed loved ones!
